Custom business software for Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

Mule Digital builds the software Midwest companies actually run on: internal business tools, customer portals and web apps, data management platforms, SaaS products, mobile apps for the crews in the field, and the custom integrations that hold the rest together. Manufacturers, trades, ag-adjacent firms, professional services, and the small and mid-sized businesses in between. Websites, brand, search, and marketing too, made by the same three people.

Every project is quoted from your own brief. No packages, no tiers, and no published price to reverse-engineer your scope from.

01 · Straight answers

The questions people actually type.

01

Who builds custom business software for Midwest companies?

Mule Digital builds custom business software for companies across Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. The work is internal business tools, customer portals and web apps, data management platforms, SaaS products, mobile apps for field crews, and the custom software and integrations that connect them. Mule is a studio of three, so it fits the company where the owner still reads the email rather than a procurement department with a sixty-page RFP. Websites, brand, search, ads, video, and photography sit alongside the software rather than in place of it.

02

Which Midwest states does Mule Digital serve?

Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. That means Detroit and Ann Arbor, the 3C corridor from Cleveland through Columbus to Cincinnati, Chicagoland and the river towns downstate, Indianapolis and the manufacturing belt to its north, and Wisconsin from Dodge County out to Madison and Milwaukee. Mule Digital also works in Belgium and the Netherlands, which is where the team physically sits. There are dedicated pages for the cities and counties we get asked about most, and taking a project from a town without its own page is completely normal.

03

Can a small Midwest manufacturer afford a custom internal tool?

Usually, because the tool is scoped to the one process that is costing you the most hours instead of to a platform nobody asked for. A shop running scheduling on a whiteboard and three spreadsheets does not need a system, it needs one screen everybody can see, and that is a small build. Mule Digital starts with the single most expensive bottleneck, ships that, then builds outward from something your crew is already using. Nothing is priced in advance and there is no minimum project size, so the honest answer is that you describe the job and a person quotes it.

04

Do I have to be in the same city as the developer?

No. Mule Digital's team is in Belgium and the Netherlands and works remotely with clients across the Midwest. Discovery is a single video call, the rest runs async over email and shared documents, and replies land inside one business day. Mornings in Central and Eastern time are afternoons in Brussels, so there is a live window every working day without anybody taking a call at midnight. When a project genuinely needs someone standing in the building, that trip is quoted as its own line rather than buried in a retainer.

05

Do you build mobile apps for field crews?

Yes. Field apps are one of Mule Digital's six software lines: the technician logging a job, the driver capturing a signature, the crew photographing the site before the pour. They are built offline-first, so the work is held on the device and syncs when the signal comes back, with conflict rules agreed in the brief instead of decided by whichever truck reconnected first. iOS and Android come out of one codebase, and Mule handles the App Store and Google Play submissions and the first release. If your crews work rural Michigan, Ohio, or northern Wisconsin, assume offline matters, because it does.

06

What does Mule Digital charge?

There is no price list, and there are no packages to sort you into. You describe the job, we ask a few questions, and a person writes back with a quote and the line items behind it. Buy the project once and you own it on completion. Subscribe with nothing down and we own and run it until you buy it out, on a buyout that falls every month until it reaches zero. If you already own a site and only want it hosted and maintained, nothing is built and nothing changes hands, so it stays yours.

07

Is Mule Digital a Midwest company?

No, and it is worth saying plainly. Mule Digital is a studio of three: two in Belgium, one in the Netherlands. The Midwest is the primary market because that is where the work is, not because there is an office in Columbus. Twenty-plus projects have shipped so far, and the Midwest ones you can go and look at include a car rental service delivering to Detroit Metro Airport in Michigan, a car dealership in Delavan, Wisconsin, and a barbershop in Anderson, Indiana. There is no Ohio or Illinois client on that list yet, and saying so is cheaper than being caught implying one.

02 · The five states

Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin.

Five states, one team, one way of working. The pages below go deeper on each: the counties, the industries, the timelines, and the towns inside them that have their own page.

Yes, Mule Digital works with businesses across Michigan, with dedicated service-area pages for Detroit, Plymouth, Canton, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Traverse City. We build custom business software, internal tools, customer portals, and mobile apps as well as websites, brand, search visibility, ads, video, and photography. Our team is based in Belgium and the Netherlands and we work remote-first. We're a small studio, so we're a better fit for owner-run companies than for enterprise procurement.

We have dedicated pages for Chicago, Rockford, Peoria, Springfield, Naperville, Bloomington and Quincy, and we take work from the rest of the state too. We have dedicated service-area pages for Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, South Bend, Evansville, Noblesville, Carmel, Anderson, and Elkhart, and we take work from anywhere else in the state. Our team is based in Belgium and the Netherlands and works remote-first with Midwest clients. We built The Luxe Cut Club in Anderson, so Indiana is not a market we are guessing at.

03 · What we build

Fourteen lines of work, in three groups.

04 · How the distance works

We are not down the road, and we do not pretend to be.

Two of us are in Belgium and one is in the Netherlands. Nobody at Mule lives in the Midwest, there is no Chicago office, and the only contact address is the one at the bottom of this page. That is the whole of it.

The distance is a scheduling question, and it usually works in your favour. Eastern Time runs six hours behind Brussels and Central Time seven, so your overnight email is answered before your day starts. Live calls sit cleanly in your morning, which is our afternoon: 9 AM in Columbus or Indianapolis is 3 PM in Brussels, and 9 AM in Chicago or Milwaukee is 4 PM.

Discovery is one video call. After that the work runs async over email and shared documents, with replies inside one business day. Most sites ship in two to six weeks from kickoff, and the first working version of a business tool usually lands in three to eight.

Routine in-person visits are not part of an engagement. When a project genuinely needs someone in the building, a walk-through of the floor before a scheduling tool gets scoped, or a photo and video shoot on site, we say so and quote the travel as its own line instead of hiding it in the total. Photography and videography are shot by us, not subcontracted and not directed from a desk.

05 · Start

Tell us what is broken. We will quote the fix.

Describe the job in your own words, in as much or as little detail as you have. A person reads it, asks a few questions, and writes back with a quote and the line items behind it. No sales sequence, no discovery call you have to survive first.
