Data management platforms

One number, one place, and an answer to why last month looked like that.

01 · What this is

Warehouses, pipelines, migrations, dashboards. One number instead of four that disagree.

Most businesses do not have a reporting problem. They have a truth problem: sales says one figure, accounting says another, and the spreadsheet that reconciles them lives on somebody's laptop. We build the layer underneath: pull the data out of the systems it is trapped in, clean it, put it somewhere that is the single source of truth, and then put dashboards on top that a normal person can read without a training session. Migrations, warehouses, pipelines, permissions, retention. The boring, load-bearing work.

  1. 01One source of truth instead of four disagreeing exports
  2. 02Pipelines out of the systems your data is stuck in
  3. 03Dashboards a normal person can read on a phone
  4. 04Access rules, retention, and backups written down
02 · What you get

Scope, then a real number.

Quoted from your brief. We start by reconciling the two numbers that disagree the loudest, because that is the argument the platform has to end.

What it costs

Every project is quoted from your own brief. No packages, no tiers, and no published price to reverse-engineer your scope from.

03 · Where we work

Data platforms across the Midwest.

Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin are the five states we actively sell into, and the work is remote-first, so a shop in Toledo gets the same build as one an hour from the office. The team sits in Belgium and the Netherlands, six hours ahead of Michigan, which means whatever you send at the end of your day is usually answered before the start of your next one.

The full FAQ
  • What is a data management platform for a small or mid-sized business?

It is the layer that collects data from the systems you already run, your accounting software, your CRM, your point of sale, your scheduling tool, into one place that everybody agrees is correct, and then reports off that. It is not an enterprise product with a six-figure licence. At the size most Midwest businesses actually operate at, it is a managed database, a handful of scheduled pipelines, and a dashboard, built once and owned by you.

  • Can you migrate us off spreadsheets without losing years of history?

Yes, and keeping the history is usually the whole point. We import the back catalogue, keep the original files untouched as a reference copy, and reconcile row counts and totals against the source before anything is switched over. If a column has been used for three different things since 2019, we find that during the migration rather than after it.

  • Who can see what, once the data is in one place?

Whoever you say. Role-based access is part of the build, not an add-on: a sales rep sees their own pipeline, a manager sees the region, an owner sees everything, and payroll data is not visible to any of them by accident. Retention and backup rules get written down in the brief and enforced in the platform.

Describe the job.

A sentence or two about what you need is enough to start. We ask a few questions, then a person writes back with the scope, the timeline, and a quote with the line items behind it.

Your domain and your data are yours on every plan, whatever happens. We do not hold a domain or your customer records as leverage, not even if you stop paying. Ask and we hand your data over.
