Ownership is a feature, stated plainly. You own what we build for you, you decide who sees your records, and you can take everything with you at any time.
01Ownership
On completion, the project is yours.
When a project is complete and paid in full, you own it: the code written for you, the designs, the documentation and every record in it. Mule keeps the right to reuse its own general tools and know-how, which is what keeps builds affordable, and never your data or anything specific to your business.
Hosting and maintenance after launch run under a monthly retainer. If you ever move the system elsewhere, the exit plan in your agreement covers the handover of accounts, a final export and a transition period. Ownership does not depend on staying with Mule.
02Data rights
Five rules for your records.
- No sharing by default
- Nothing about your animals, customers or prices is shared with anyone unless you switch it on, per party and per purpose.
- Export anytime
- Your records leave in open formats (CSV, JSON, PDF for documents) whenever you ask. A standard export is always free and never blocked, including during a billing dispute.
- You choose where it lives
- Each system is hosted in the EU or the US, chosen per project. EU clients' personal data stays in the EU unless you agree otherwise.
- We use it only for you
- Mule processes your data to run your system and for nothing else. No resale, no pooled benchmarks, no training of AI models on your records.
- Deletion when you leave
- At the end of the retainer you get a final export, and Mule deletes its copies within 30 days after you confirm it, unless the law requires otherwise.

03Hosting

04Security
Practical security, written down.
A small team, so the practices are simple and checked. No certification is claimed until one is granted.
- Encryption
- In transit with TLS, and at rest on the hosting providers we use.
- Access
- Least-privilege roles, multi-factor sign-in for staff and for owner and billing roles in the portal.
- Backups
- Automated daily backups, with restore tests on a schedule set in your retainer.
- Audit trail
- Append-only history for records and admin actions, with device time and server time.
- Patching
- Security patches for frameworks, runtimes and dependencies; critical ones applied as soon as practical.
- Incidents
- A written incident process with notice to you as required by your data processing agreement.
05Frameworks we follow
Built to the spirit of the farm data rules.
Ag Data Core Principles (US). Farmers own the information generated on their operations; collection, use and sharing need their consent; data stays portable. Mule designs to these principles. Mule is not listed as a certified provider.
EU Code of conduct on agricultural data sharing.The data originator decides who may use the data and for what. Mule follows the code's approach in its contracts and defaults.
EU Data Act. Where a Mule system or device generates data in the EU, users have rights to access and share that data and to switch providers. Mule builds export and switching into its agreements and provides the information the Act asks for.

Questions
Who owns the data?
You do. Mule processes it on your instructions to run your system and does not sell, pool or share it.
Can I get all my data out?
Yes, at any time, in open formats. A standard export is free and stays available even if an invoice is overdue.
Do you train AI on our records?
No. Your records are never used to train AI models.
What happens if we stop working with Mule?
The exit plan in your agreement applies: handover of accounts, a final export, and deletion of Mule's copies within 30 days after you confirm it.
