How Mule bills, what is published and what is quoted, and what happens if an invoice is not paid. For clients, the signed MSA, Order Form, Retainer Schedule and Rate Card govern; this page summarizes them.

1. Quoted and published prices

  • Projects are quoted. Every build is priced on its scale, its complexity and the value it creates. Mule does not publish project prices or ranges.
  • Extensive work (anything beyond the agreed scope or the maintenance time included in a retainer) is quoted when you request it, or, where the scope cannot be fixed in advance and you agree, quoted after the work based on its scale. We tell you which applies before we start.
  • Published: the monthly hosting and maintenance retainer, usage rates, optional monthly services and protective fees below.

All prices exclude VAT and sales tax. Euro prices are set from the USD price each year and rounded up to the nearest EUR 5.

2. The monthly retainer

Every system Mule hosts or maintains has a monthly retainer, quoted by the scale of the project and never less than USD 50 (EUR 50) a month. It covers hosting management, backups, monitoring, security updates, incident handling, small fixes within the included time and the Mule Portal.

BandTypical systemRetainer fromUsage included

R3Platform: mobile app, realtime, several integrationsUSD 555USD 250

Bands are a guide; your Order Form sets the figure. The retainer is billed monthly in advance.

3. Usage above the allowance

Hosting, database, storage, email, AI model calls, maps and other paid services used above the included allowance are billed monthly in arrears at provider cost + 20%. The Portal shows each line as it accrues, with the margin stated, and alerts you at 50%, 80%, 100% and 120% of any budget you set.

4. How you pay

In the Mule Portal by card, ACH, SEPA debit, iDEAL | Wero or Bancontact, processed by Stripe. Builds are invoiced as a deposit, milestones and a final invoice, as set in the Order Form. Invoices are due within [14] days unless the Order Form says otherwise.

5. Protective fees

FeeAmount
Modification of a Mule-managed system by an outside party without prior written agreementat least USD 500 per occurrence
Reactivation after suspensionUSD 150 plus overdue amounts
Returned debit, or a chargeback without first raising a disputeUSD 35 per event
Late payment interest, non-EU clients1.5% per month or the legal maximum, if lower
Late payment, EU clientsstatutory commercial rate and EUR 40 per invoice

6. If an invoice is not paid

Mule may suspend hosting, database and other services at any time while an invoice for them is overdue. In practice we follow these steps:

Day overdueStep
3Friendly reminder
7Second reminder
14Final reminder
21Suspension notice, by email and in the Portal
28Services suspended: the system may go offline or read-only

During a suspension your data is kept, and not deleted, for at least 60 days, and your export is never blocked. Service is restored within 2 business days of payment. If a suspension lasts more than 60 days, Mule may end the affected services, after which the Exit and Transition Plan applies.

7. Ownership

On completion and full payment, you own the project: the code, the data and the documentation.
